Dr. Bill’s Biographical Sketch

Bill Klemm is a noted brain researcher with over 40 years of experience as a professor at Texas A&M University and Iowa State University. His research publications are widely cited and they include over 400 research papers, 45 book chapters, and 10 books on a broad range of topics. Four of his books are for lay audiences.

Bill goes to schools and teacher meetings to conduct workshops on memory to show teachers how they can help their students to remember school lessons. He got standing-room only attendance at both of his recent seminars at the annual state meeting of science teachers and at the state meeting of the Middle School Association. At both meetings, many teachers said that Bill’s talk was the best at the whole meeting. He also has given talks in public schools about science to students in grades ranging from the second grade to the eighth grade. Bill has even made political campaign speeches during his run for the School Board in his city. He is a key team member on two federal programs to develop science curriculum for middle school children (see http://peer.tamu.edu).

Bill has been President of about a half-dozen organizations and has chaired numerous committees. For over 40 years, he has given on the order of four or five talks each year about his research to colleagues at local, state, national, and international meetings. During an eight-year period as a Colonel in the Air Force Reserves, he developed several research and development initiatives, such as peer review, man-in-space research, and technology transfer, which he briefed to staff and commanders at the Headquarters of Air Force Human Systems Division.

Bill has been interviewed many times on radio and television. Most recently, he has been signed up by Sixth Star Entertainment booking agency to be an “edutainer” on cruise ships.
